New Four-Cylinder 2013 BMW X3 Pricing Announced

By Jacob Brown | February 16, 2012
BMW is already bringing the 2013 BMW X3 to dealerships, replete with a new four-cylinder engine replacing its base model non-turbo inline-six. But with the new engine, among a long list of upgraded technology, BMW is holding the price of its new model to 2012 prices—$37,995 for the 2013 BMW X3 xDrive28i and $43,595 for the turbocharged six-cylinder 2013 BMW X3 xDrive35i. Both prices include the requisite $895 for destination and handling. Not only does the volume seller of BMW's small crossover range receive a new and more efficient twin-turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 245 horsepower, but it also gets a new eight-speed automatic transmission, auto start-stop, driving dynamics control that adjusts the car's inputs and throttle responses for different driving situations, 18-inch wheels, a power liftgate, and chrome tail pipes. Optionally available for the 2013 BMW X3 will be new packages such as lane departure warning and an M Sport package that will add 19-inch wheels to the four-cylinder X3. The latter will also add a little more visual flair to the vehicle.
With its new engine and transmission combination, expect the 2013 BMW X3 xDrive28i to get significantly better fuel economy than the previous six-cylinder while returning better performance. The inline-six model will likely net the same 19 mpg city/26 mpg highway figure as the 2012 model. BMW expects to begin production of the 2013 X3 models in April with its first deliveries scheduled for May of this year. Source: BMW
