Spied: 2014 Acura MDX Caught Testing, Minus Some Camo
The last time we saw the Acura MDX, it was covered in Goodwill moving blankets that hid just about everything. But now, all that heavy cladding falls away and we see the MDX, naked and dazzling, and it shows off a very familiar, still cutting-edge shape.
The last MDX was known for its bold, futuristic, sharp styling that disguised its family-hauling roots. This new MDX sees little to change--there's no surprise that it wears Acura's toned-down beak grille, but it also keeps the sloping rear window line and overall shape. We also see what could be a version of the LED headlights that were previewed on the upcoming Acura RLX flagship sedan. What's under the skin, however, is new: the MDX will share the powertrains with the flagship RLX sedan, meaning two different engines in the lineup. There will be a standard V6 and a new hybrid, featuring the Acura Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system that fills up Acura's lineup, including the NSX supercar.
Expect the next MDX on the market in late 2013 as a 2014 model.
