NHTSA Keeps Kids Strapped Right During Child Passenger Safety Week
September 18th through the 24th is Children Passenger Safety Week and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration wants parents, guardians, and caretakers to make sure the tiniest and most vulnerable passengers are safe on any road trip. The federal agency, through its Traffic Safety Marketing website, provides online information and tools on child safety while driving. We especially like the Child Seat Inspection Stations tool, which provides checkpoints state by state where law enforcement and other trained personnel will inspect child seats for free during National Seat Check Day (September 24th). Other information provided on the website includes safety features found in particular cars (nicely cross-referenced, by-the-way), how to buckle up when pregnant, and even a child growth chart. The NHTSA also provides most of the information in Spanish as well as in English. Automotive.com's take: What safety tips would you offer to drivers with children as passengers?
