UPDATED: Nissan 360 Gives a Sneak Peak into the Next Generation Maxima [More Pictures]

By Trevor Dorchies | August 26, 2013
This week, Nissan is hosting media from all over to check out what's coming down the pipeline here and abroad. So far, the most notable concept vehicle to be unveiled in the next generation Maxima, which our very own Jacob Brown saw today. Paragraphimage Shiro Nakamura, Nissan's global design chief, said the Maxima concept was the only four-door sedan without actually name dropping any specific models. Nakamura also said that this concept will officially bow at the 2014 North American International Auto Show next January. While Nakamura didn't come out and say it, these renderings would make sense that it's the next generation Maxima, which is due out soon as a 2015 model.  It will be interesting to see what Nissan does with the next Maxima after redesigned versions of the Altima, Sentra, and Versa were recently launched. As it stands now, the Maxima is Nissan's biggest and most expensive passenger car currently available, but it's out of whack with the rest of the automaker's redesigned lineup. The current Maxima doesn't feature Nissan's latest technology or growth in fuel economy that's reflected in the redesigned models either. Making matters worse, with the size of the latest Altima, some have said that Nissan has nowhere to go with the Maxima and will simply phase it out. This latest rendering, however, shows that may not be the case though. To date, Nissan has sold 27,710 Maxima units, which is down from 35,222 units over the same time period last year. The 2013 Nissan Maxima starts out at $31,790, which is about $9,000 more than the recently redesigned Altima.
