Nissan Recalling 54 Altimas and NV Vans to Replace Airbag Modules
Nissan is recalling 2012 Altima midsize sedans and 2012 Nissan NV full-size vans for faulty airbag modules that were installed incorrectly during vehicle production. The recall affects 54 vehicles, including 2012 Nissan Altima sedans manufactured from June 15, 2011 to June 21, 2011 and 2012 NVs manufactured from June 23, 2011 and June 28, 2011 to replace the airbag control unit in each vehicle. Because the ACU was installed incorrectly, the airbags may not deploy properly in the case of a collision, increasing the chance of serious injury. Nissan will replace the control unit in the recalled vehicles at dealerships free of charge. For further information, contact the National Traffic Highway Safety Administration’s safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) and reference campaign number 11V408000.
