No More: 2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe Black Series Sold Out

By Joel Arellano | June 19, 2012
Take a standard Mercedes-Benz C-Class AMG. Decant it of all that's luxurious like comfy seats. Now boost the V-8 by 50 ponies, stiffen the suspension, and add race car-esque features like 19-inch wheels, light rims, winglets, and a spoiler. Oh, also deactivate the C-Class' electronic stability program. The result is the 2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series. The AMG Black Series are highly performance-oriented Mercedes-Benz vehicles whose genesis began in 2006 with the Europe-only Mercedes-Benz SLK55 AMG Black Series. The 2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series is the latest in the exclusive lineup and the fourth to be created by Mercedes' tuner arm. Our colleagues over at Motor Trend and Automobile Magazine extensively cover the Mercedes-Benz C-Class AMG Black Series coupe in their first drives of the sports car. According to the Netherland mag Autovisie, Mercedes-Benz originally intended to build only 650 of the C63 AMG Black Series coupes but pumped the figure to 800 due to high interest. The magazine claims Mercedes finally halted at the figure because it found production so time-consuming that it was affecting production of the regular C-Class and its various models. The 2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series coupe's fiber carbon parts, like the spoiler, took a significant amount of time and expense. The 2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series coupe made its debut in the states at last year's Los Angeles Auto Show. Check out the following video as the coupe shows its "dark side" as it weaves to and fro on an empty road.
