No More Evoque: Land Rover Sells Out of Stylish Crossover SUV

By Joel Arellano | April 12, 2012
Earlier this year, we reported Land Rover was having difficulty fulfilling orders for its Range Rover Evoque crossover SUV. Well, the inevitable happened: at last week's New York Auto Show, Land Rover announced it has sold out of all Range Rover Evoque vehicles for 2012. A spokesperson for the automaker continued, saying Land Rover would spend the rest of the year filling its backlog of orders for the remainder of the year. Owners could be looking at least several months, if not a year, before receiving their 2012 Land Rover Evoque. The 2012 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque is currently built at the Land Rover facilities in Solihull and Halewood, UK. Land Rover is bringing in extra staffing to the Halewood facility to accommodate the Evoque's demand. The 2012 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque first went on sale in 2011 as a 2012 model. The compact crossover SUV is based off the Land Rover LRX concept which first debuted at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show. Tata Motors, which owns both Land Rover and Jaguar, approved production of the Land Rover Evoque the next year.
