Non-Inflating Airbag Forces Toyota RAV4 Recall
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has said that Toyota is recalling more than 400 of its 2011 model year RAV4 crossovers. The issue involves the vehicle's airbag system, specifically the curtain airbag. According to the federal agency, the wrong propellant was installed with the airbag system. The concern is that one or even both of the airbags may not properly deploy in the event of an accident. 427 vehicles may be affected by the issue. Toyota is notifying its dealerships about the issue which they will replace the affected assembly free of charge. The automaker can be contacted at (800) 331-4331, and Toyota itself plans to start notifying owners of the recall next month. There have been no reported accidents or injuries involving the issue. The NHTSA itself can be contacted about the recall at (888) 327-4236 or at www.safecar.gov. The NHTSA campaign ID for this recall is 12V029000. Source: NHTSA
