Porsche and Volkswagen Announce Special Edition Models
For the 2014 model year, both Porsche and Volkswagen are offering limited special edition Cayenne and Touareg models, respectively. We can expect to see the Cayenne Platinum Edition and Touareg X in dealer showrooms by early next year. Pricing will start at $63,300 for the 2014 Porsche Cayenne Platinum Edition, while the 2014 Volkswagen Touareg X Special Edition will start at $56,170. Porsche's 2014 Cayenne Platinum Edition will come with standard eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission, power steering plus, front and rear park assist, Bose audio package, and the convenience package. Under the hood of the Cayenne Platinum Edition and Cayenne Diesel Platinum Edition, you will find a 3.6-liter V-6 that delivers 300 horsepower or the 3.0-liter V-6 turbo diesel engine that kicks out 240 horsepower, respectively. The exterior of the new 2014 Cayenne Platinum Edition features accents that have been painted in Platinum Silver Metallic. This exclusive model offers a unique paint color, Carrara White Metallic, and the look is finished off with 19 inch Cayenne Design II wheels. Inside the new Cayenne is a Black Luxor Beige two-tone interior available only on the Platinum Edition models. A partial leather interior comes standard, along with a SportDesign steering wheel and paddle shifters. Embossed headrests and floor mats also in Luxor Beige paired with "Platinum Edition" script on the front door entry guards complete the look. Volkswagen will offer the 2014 Touareg X Special Edition based off the TDI Clean Diesel Lux trim in celebration of the luxury SUV's 10 year anniversary. Only 1,000 units of the new model will be produced. Both the interior and exterior will display unique elements, setting the Touareg X apart from the standard model. A laundry list of standard equipment comes with the special edition model, including an 8-inch touchscreen, rearview camera, Bluetooth, power and heated front seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The 2014 Touareg X Special Edition sits on 19 inch "Moab" aluminum-alloy wheels, and will be offered with a special exterior paint color, Moonlight blue Pear. LED taillights and Touareg X badging complete the list of new exterior features. The interior will be draped in Vienna leather, complimented by Engineered Ebony Wood accents along the dashboard and doors. The Touareg X produces 240 horsepower, and will be powered by Volkswagen's 3.0-liter turbocharged, direct-injection V-6 TDI Clean Diesel engine, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg were jointly developed and have been since the beginning of their productions. Source: Porsche, Volkswagen
