Porsche's Expansion Plans Hit Speed Bump
Porsche released an update on its expansion plan to break 200,000 units sold by 2018, specifically discussing its future model lineup. In 2010, the German automaker gave the green light to a smaller, all-new crossover SUV, the Porsche Cajun. And rumors were flying last year of a small, entry level roadster as well. Porsche CEO Matthias Mueller recently put a crimp to such speculation amid concerns such a roadster could negatively impact Porsche's exclusive luxury sport image. States Mueller: ''Possibly we need to wait until the next generation of customers before the idea of a small roadster will work for Porsche.'' Mueller, on the other hand, states the automaker is considering an all-new sports car slotted above Porsche's famed 911 model. Porsche sold slightly over 118,000 vehicles in 2011.
