Today, we know how much the 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage will cost: $12,995 for the base model with a manual transmission. The 44 mpg version of the 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage will add $1,000 to that total, thanks to its optional continuously variable automatic transmission. Of the five 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage variants offered, three come with a CVT as standard, and all three get 37 mpg city, 44 mpg highway, and 40 mpg combined when so equipped. With a five-speed manual transmission, the 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage achieves 34 mpg city, 42 mpg highway, and 37 mpg combined. Paragraphimage Other features that help boost the 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage's fuel economy include the use of the Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control variable valve-timing system and electric power steering. Standard safety features that have nothing to do with fuel economy include a seven air bag Supplemental Restraint System, stability and traction control, and Mitsu's patented Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution safety cell technology. Other standard safety features on the 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage include a tire pressure monitoring system and hill start assist, which is found on all models no matter if it's equipped with a CVT or manual transmission. If you want to just get into a 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage, you'll land in the DE model, which includes features like automatic climate control, keyless entry, a five-speed manual transmission, and a rear spoiler. Other standard features on the 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage DE includes a piano black center console trim, halogen headlights, rear heater floor ducts, and a final asking price of $12,995. If you can pony up an additional $1,200, that'll get you in the 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage ES which features things like a push-start ignition, Bluetooth, and steering wheel-mounted cruise control and audio buttons. Other standard features on the 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage ES include 14-inch alloy wheels, a steering wheel and shifter wrapped in leather, fog lamps, and a silver interior accent trim. A navigation package, which includes navigation (obviously) and a backup camera, are available on the 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage ES. I'm not sure how I feel about the 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage but I do understand the growing need for the compact car market from which most cars are capable of 35-40+ mpg. Not only is the MPG a factor but the pricing of compact cars such as the Mirage or Fiesta make it more affordable for people to buy them. I'm personally a SUV and pickup guy, but I'm grasping the market for these mini cars as much as I think they could be coffins in a severe accident.
