Recall: 2013 Cadillac ATS, XTS and 2014 Chevrolet Impala
General Motors and the NHTSA have announced a handful of 2013 Cadillac ATS and XTS models, along with select 2014 Chevrolet Impala vehicles, need to come back in for a brake lamp problem. The brake lamps may intermittently flash without the brakes being applied, and cruise control may also disengage. Because of this, the select vehicles fail to conform to the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 108. If the brake lamps were to flash while the vehicle is not slowing down, a following driver may not adjust their own vehicle speed when the car is in fact braking. This defect increases the likelihood of an accident and personal injuries. GM will begin notifying owners of suspected vehicles June 7, 2013, and dealers will reprogram the body control module at no cost to the owner. Owners can contact Chevrolet by phone at (800) 630-2438 or Cadillac at (866) 982-2339 with recall number 13158. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline by phone at (800) 327-4236, or online at www.safercar.gov. Source: NHTSA
