Pretty odd to see this recall now. The airbag light on panel has been illuminating lately. If anyone can provide me with info about how to remedy this problem pls send to me. Thank you.
Recall Alert: Chrysler Recalling 2002-2003 Jeep Liberty and 2002-2004 Grand Cherokee Vehicles
Chrysler Group is recalling select Jeep Liberty models made between 2002 to 2003, and 2002 to 2004, respectively. In all, the recall covers 744,822 vehicles. While that's a high number, the recall itself affects only 0.03 percent of the vehicles on the roads today; exactly which ones nobody is sure, so the big number is a better-safe-than-sorry move. The recall will repair faulty restraint control modules, which when not in good order, can deploy either the airbag or pretensioner (which tighten seatbelts before impact) without warning. The recall has been put in place after an investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration concluded. “A design change to a supplied component was linked to a small number of inadvertent air bag deployments, and in keeping with the best interests of our customers, we initiated a recall campaign,” said David Dillon, Chrysler Group’s Head of Product Investigations and Campaigns in a statement released by the automaker. No accidents or fatalities as a result of this recall have been reported. Chrysler will notify affected owners directly and remedy the situation by installing a filter that gets the module to perform as originally intended. Chrysler is expected to begin making these repairs in January of 2013. Concerned owners can contact Chrysler directly at (800) 247-9753 and reference campaign number M35. Owners can also contact the NHTSA directly at (888) 327-4236 and reference campaign ID number 12V527000.Source: Chrysler
