Recall Central: 2013 GM Vehicles Could Roll Away
General Motors is recalling about 69,000 vehicles worldwide, including 54,686 vehicles in the U.S. The recall affects 2013 models. Several popular nameplates are involved including: the Cadillac Escalade and variants; Chevrolet Tahoe, Subarban, Silverado, and Avalanche; GMC Sierra, Savannah, and Yukon and its variants.The Issue According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the affected GM models have faulty parking brakes or steering-column lock features. In some cases, the vehicles could roll away even if in park and without the key in the ignition. The faulty models could roll away without the driver present, possibly causing an accident or injury. The issue is similar to a recall recently issued by Honda for the Odyssey and Pilot, though there's no indication that the two problems are related.The Fix General Motors will notify owners of the affected models, and dealers will replace the steering column as necessary, free of charge.
