Renault banned from Formula 1 due to deliberate Car Crash
Would an automaker deliberately crash in a race? Well, The World Motor Sports Council, or WMSC, thinks so. Rumors concerning an on-purpose crash surfaced after Renault fired driver Nelson Piquet Jr. and Piquet said that Renault team leader Flavio Briatore and others ordered him to crash his car to help teammate Fernando Alonso. The WMSC investigated and has decided that, yes, Renault was guilty of deliberately causing a crash in the Grand Prix Race in Singapore last year. As a result, that Renault is banned from competing in Formula 1 racing for two years. via Automobile Magazine
