Ron Burgundy Introduces New 2014 Dodge Durango in Funny Spots

By | October 15, 2013
The Chrysler Group, in what many perceive as a risky move, has joined forces with Anchorman producers to promote not only the new 2014 Dodge Durango--an SUV we very much like--but also the new movie, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, starring comedian Will Ferrell. Although these commercials may cost less than similar marketing campaigns, is it enough to propel the Dodge brand to the forefront of America's mind? The commercials kicked off earlier this month, where the 1970s newscaster goes over the some of the Durango's attributes. These aren't just another spokesperson pointing out what's new. "So the idea of the campaign is very simple--hiring a guy who comes from the 1970s. And he's going to look at our advanced technology through the eyes of a guy who comes from the '70s," Olivier Francois, Chrysler's Chief Marketing Officer, told Advertising Age. Since the release of the first commercial, it looks like this advertising strategy is paying off. Who wouldn't want to see Will Ferrell explain aspects of the new Dodge Durango? Many of the commercials have gone viral, and online interest in the new Durango has increased sixfold. Watch the videos below to see Ron Burgundy explain that the glove box is big enough to hold turkey sandwiches and gum, and how he's convinced that there's a woman trapped behind the dashboard.
