Rumored: Toyota to Bring Back Supra?
The Toyota Supra, a popular sports coupe from the 1980s and 1990s, may be coming back. A new Supra sports car is in the works, UK-based Car Magazine reports. The popular rear-wheel-drive coupe was originally a spin-off of the Celica, and became the Japanese automaker's flagship sports coupe in the 1990s. Though Toyota denies the possible return of the Supra, such a nameplate could serve as a flagship for buyers of the automaker’s upcoming $25,000 rear-wheel-drive sporty coupe. The fourth and final generation Toyota Supra ran until the 1998 model year. The base model featured a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that produced 220 hp, impressive for the Toyota range at the time, but meager compared to the twin-turbocharged version that produced 320 hp. As for Lexus, Car Magazine says that Lexus will debut an LFA Tokyo Edition at the Tokyo Auto Show. The projected coupe could get an exposed-weave carbon-fiber roof, and a rear spoiler made of carbon.. Source: Car Magazine
