Saab Has Sights Set on Restarting Production August 9
Saab has been in a state of turmoil lately, but this may all end soon. Today, Saab announced that production could restart as early as August 9. The Swedish brand has been out of production multiple times due to financial issues with suppliers who have been unwilling to cut Saab some slack. Saab is currently involved in discussions over a transaction with Swedish real estate investors led by Hemfosa Fastigheter that would raise about Euro 61 million in additional funding commitments. Also, Saab has been involved in discussions with its suppliers regarding materials supply and commercial terms. Saab says the involved parties are close to reaching an agreement. Saab expects big things from its two new vehicles; the 9-5 and 9-4X. The 9-5 is a luxurious sedan that offers a rear seat entertainment system and the ability to display information on the windscreen. The 9-5 is an Insurance Institute of Highway Safety top safety pick. The Saab 9-4X is the automaker's newest offering, a luxurious crossover based on the Cadillac SRX. The 9-4X features a breathtaking interior, and an available 2.8-liter turbocharged engine that produces 300 horsepower. Options include a Bose sound system with 5.1 surround sound, and an 8-inch touch screen. Like the 9-5 sedan, the 9-4X was also an IIHS top safety pick. Source: Saab
