Silver outshines Black as Auto Shoppers' Favorite Color
A recent study from DuPont revealed consumer tastes in car color. According to the study, silver is the most popular new vehicle color, followed closely by black. In North America, DuPont reports, white is most often chosen with black not far behind. "Our annual global color analysis allows DuPont to share insights into global color trends with automakers as they're planning future vehicle designs," said Nancy Lockhart, DuPont color marketing manager. DuPont gathers information for its global report from 11 regions including Europe, China, India, and Russia. In North America and globally, silver, white, black, and gray comprise the first four places of the top-10 chart. On both charts, red is the first non-neutral color below those listed above, followed closely by blue, brown/beige, green, and yellow/gold.Black has slowly been rising in popularity in North America, up 7 percent in 2010 compared to 2005.
