Oklahoma troopers were testing new sonar equipment when they discovered two submerged vehicles, a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro and an early '50s-era Chevrolet sedan. That would have been odd, but inside the cars troopers also found human remains. A total of five bodies were in the two cars, and troopers believe a skull nearby may have been related to one of the vehicles as well. Three high school kids went missing in 1970, and those are believed to be the bodies in the '69 Camaro. The other car may have been a couple that disappeared near the lake in the early 1960s, according to a report in Hot Rod. Paragraphimage The story was brought to light by the Elk City Daily News, and confirms that the cars may solve two cold cases. Officials were still investigating, and have not yet been able to identify the remains. The Jaws of Life were used to pry open the two Chevys, to allow investigators to get a better look. Custer County Sheriff Bruce Peoples said "There's been a heck of a bunch of interest in it." Peoples said public input on the cold cases was very good.
