Porsche and BMW, purveyors of some of the finest German luxury autos, will offer a limited number of buyers even more to choose from; Porsche is unveiling a Porsche Panamera Platinum Edition package, and BMW is releasing an X6 Performance Edition, and a 6 Series Coupe Frozen Silver Edition.
The Porsche Panamera Platinum Edition will be available on models powered by the 3.6-liter, 300-hp V-6. All-wheel-drive Panamera 4 models will also receive the Platinum Edition, which doesn't change performance, but does offer cosmetic enhancements. Platinum Edition Panamera's will come in a choice of five colors: black; white; basalt black metallic; carbon grey metallic; and mahagony metallic (Porsche likes its metallic finishes). The Platinum Edition will also sport the Porsche Panamera Turbo 19-inch wheels, complete with the Porsche Crest on the center caps. Inside Platinum versions will have a black and Luxor beige interior as the only option, partially covered in leather as standard, a full leather interior is an option. Platinum's come equipped with a host of standard premium features as well, such as the Porsche media system and seven-inch screen, commanding 585-watt Bose audio, and heated front and rear seats.
The new Platinum Edition Panamera and Panamera 4 will be available in January, and will start at $81,475 for the Panamera, and $85,575 for the all-wheel-drive version, an increase of $4,700 and $4,150 respectively.
BMW's X6 Performance Edition, unlike Porsche's Platinum Edition, will affect performance. Performance Editions will receive an M performance package that ups horsepower by 15 on the xDrive35i, and 40-hp on the xDrive50i. Available in one color only, the Platinum Edition will come in pearl silver, and will be complemented with 20-inch wheels and black exhaust tips. Inside, the special X6 gets black Alcantara and leather with orange contrast-stitching. The Performance Edition X6s can be combined with a variety of packages. BMW says 50 copies each of the xDrive35i and xDrive50i will be available, starting at $81,695, and $92,895 respectively. Deliveries are expected in mid-December.
In addition to the BMW X6 Performance Edition, the automaker is producing 55 copies of the 2013 6 Series Coupe Frozen Silver Edition, to be split between rear- and all-wheel-drive versions. The Frozen Silver Coupe packaging will employ BMW's silver matte paint, black-mirror caps, and 20-inch M performance wheels. Rear will drive versions will be available starting at $99,295, and all-wheel-drive versions will start at $102,695. Source: Porsche, BMW
