Spied! 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Unwrapped Before New York
We're only three months away from the New York Auto Show, site of the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe debut, but as you well know, the inter-webs don't much like that waiting stuff. Thanks to the enthusiastic folks at the Hyundai Blog, we've got a sneak peek at Hyundai's redesigned crossover. One of the biggest knocks on the current generation Santa Fe is that its styling is lackluster. Clearly, Hyundai took that to heart. From these spy shots we can see a much bolder, three-bar chrome grille: larger, shinier, and in a more aggressive trapezoidal form. Gone are the little round fog-lights, replaced with sleeker and bigger ones. While the headlights aren't on in this photo, they appear modern and fresh, and may receive some of the LED treatment that Hyundai successfully applied to its Genesis 5.0 R-Spec. The mirrors appear to have turn-signal light-strips on them. The sides and rear have adopted some of Hyundai's newer fluidic sculpture. The 2013 Santa Fe may be a little bigger as well. Hyundai hasn't released details of what may power its newest crossover, but the new 293-hp 3.3-liter V-6 recently unveiled in the Hyundai Azera might be an engine option, as well as the 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo that will power the 2013 Hyundai Veloster. While these shots show an improved version of the current generation Santa Fe, we're not sure this is of a U.S.-spec crossover, and what, if anything, may be different on the one we see in New York in April.
