Spy Shots! 2014 Hyundai Equus
While Hyundai says the emphasis right now is on its 2013 Santa Fe three-row SUV, that apparently hasn't stopped the Korean automaker from testing what we believe is the 2014 Hyundai Equus, and we've got the spy shots to prove it. Heavily camouflaged, we can still see a few unique attributes on the model seen here. The grille is a darker, blacked-out version of the one seen on the 2013 Equus. The Equus badge on the grille may also have been revised, as the one seen here protrudes unlike the current model; it's possible that may be what Hyundai is using to cover its largest, flagship luxury sedan's badges, but we wouldn't be surprised if the Equus had a new emblem. The wheels also sport a previously unseen set of dark-finish rims. From the looks of it, this could be a "black edition" trim, or optional package that will be available on the 2014 Hyundai Equus. It appears the headlights and taillights have seen been revised as well. Of course, they could just be painted black to disguise their design. Either way, we don't expect any sheet metal changes for the 5.0-liter, 429 hp sedan. At the 2012 L.A. Auto Show last week Hyundai debuted the Veloster C3 Concept, and well as the bigger, three-row version of the Santa Fe. The automaker did hint at its plans for the upcoming Detroit show, saying it would show off a "new luxury concept" named HCD14, for the fourteenth model to come from Hyundai California Design. We think that may be a concept preview of the next-generation Hyundai Genesis, which is due for an update. Photos Courtesy Jerrod D. Strauss
