Teased: 2013 Lexus RX 450h and RX 450 F Sport
In January, Toyota announced that it would release 19 new or refreshed models for the 2013 model year, and nine of those are to be from its luxury division, Lexus, including the all-new RX SUV, which was leaked and written about here. At that time, we pondered whether the leaked brochures were just wishful thinking, especially concerning the rumored RX 450 F Sport. Today, it turns out, Lexus has announced that both the RX 450 and RX 450 F Sport will be making their international debuts next week at the Geneva Auto Show. The accompanying teaser photo—this time "official"—shows off the revised "spindle grille" as debuted in the 2013 Lexus GS, and little else. In fact, there are no other details for the revised SUV, its best-selling model, though we suspect that the RX 450h will have the same engine as the GS 450h, a 338-hp, 3.5-liter V-6 with Atkinson Cycle hybrid electric motor. The GS 450h fuel economy rates 34 mpg on the highway, though the 2011 RX 450h was no slouch either at 32 mpg highway. The biggest difference? The revised engine is cleaner with an advanced injection system and boasts 45 more horsepower which could offset greater and size and creature comforts. This is purely speculation, of course, and we won't know for sure until next week. Source: Lexus
