Toyota and Scion See Price Bump
Toyota has increased the price of some of its most popular models, including the Prius and Camry lines. The ever-popular 2012 Prius models will see a standard bump of $150, raising the price of entry to the most basic Prius to $26,550. The 2012 Toyota Camry, a venerable all-star in the Toyota lineup for decades, sees a varied increase from $50 on the 2012 Camry XLE to a $270 bump in the Camry XLE V-6. Highlander and Tacoma models saw increases of $175 and $250 respectively. Scion, Toyota's edgier youth-oriented brand was largely spared, with the 2012 Scion tC models being the only ones to see a rise in the cost of entry, to the modest tune of $150. The delivery fees remain between $750-810. The increase in prices will affect models produced after May 2012, and is a pretty standard affair with Toyota. The Japanese automaker has seen sales rise in 2012 as compared with the year prior, while Scion has struggled as its primary target demographic and continues to be affected by the tepid economy.
