Toyota Recalls 615,000 Sienna Minivans for Faulty Shift Lever Assembly
Toyota is recalling 615,000 Sienna minivans from model years 2004-2005 and 2007-2009 for a faulty shift lever that, when damaged, could allow the minivans to roll away. Because of a solenoid in the shift lever that has the potential to break, the lever may be able to be shifted out of Park without depressing the brake pedal. That, by the way, is a very bad thing. And it could become a very dangerous thing. As a result, the approximately 615,000 Toyota Sienna minivans are being voluntarily recalled effective immediately to replace the solenoids free of charge. Known owners will be contacted via first class mail. Anyone with questions regarding the recall can contact Toyota at (800) 331-4331 for more information or head to http://www.toyota.com/recall.
