USAF-Inspired 2014 Ford Mustang GT Hitting Auction Block
Ford's engineer and design teams have partnered for a unique one-off U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Edition 2014 Ford Mustang GT. The boldly designed USAF Thunderbirds Edition Mustang GT is meant to resemble the Thunderbird's F-16 Falcon aircraft, with brilliant white paint, red and blue accents, as well as markings and logos. The special USAF Thunderbirds Edition 2014 Ford Mustang GT will boast a one-of-a-kind VIN 0001, further distinguishing it. Ford Racing components boost the 5.0-liter V-8's performance, and with an added Ford Racing supercharger, suspension handling pack and Brembo brakes, the USAF will have the performance to match its aggressive styling. The glass-roof Mustang will be auctioned off at the Gathering of the Eagles charity event on Thursday, August 1 during the Experimental Aircraft Association AirVenture Oshkosh 2013, in Wisconsin. Other distinguishing characteristics include 22-inch Forgiato wheels, a modified navigation screen, instrument cluster, and embroidered Thunderbirds elements on the Recaro seats. Additional features include unique sill plates and puddle lamps that project the aircraft silhouette when the doors open. "The dedication and excellence displayed by the United States Air Force Thunderbirds are qualities we also celebrate at Ford," said Edsel B. Ford II, a member of the Ford board of directors. "With this year's beautiful U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Edition Mustang, we've captured the recognizable symbols of their stature and paired it with the innovation our Ford design and engineering teams build into all of our products." The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Edition 2014 Ford Mustang GT joins five other one-of-a-kind mustangs the Ford teams have created for the EAA Young Eagles in recent years. Source: Ford
