Video: 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Teased

By Keith Buglewicz | October 23, 2012
On January 13, 2013, Chevrolet will unveil the next-generation Corvette. This seventh-generation of the venerable sports car brand is easily the most highly anticipated new car announcement General Motors will have this year. So, naturally, Chevy's milking it for all it's worth. We've already been teased with the new badge, caught numerous glimpses through spy shots, and the steady drip-drip of information from other sources is starting to pick up. But now GM itself is getting into the act, this time with a teaser video of the "C7" 2014 Chevrolet Corvette.
We see a lot of the cliched images we're used to in these teasers: Guys working on a clay model; a glimpse of a wheel; test drivers donning helmets; lots of footage of test track whizzing by. Then, it gets to the glimpses of the new car that will have Corvette forums everywhere buzzing for the next few weeks. We don't see a lot, of course. There's a wheel, a badge, a close-up of a tailpipe, a rear fender, and what looks for all the world like some chrome trim on a grille, along with the usual hype that "nothing will be the same." What does it mean? Nothing, really. We won't know the full story about the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette until January. But videos like this are an automaker's version of waiting in line for a roller coaster. The line snakes its way through the park, giving you glimpses of the biggest dips, and letting you hear the screams of passengers, all to amp up your own excitement for when you finally get on board and strap in. And does it ever work. Check it out for yourself, and brace yourself for more.
