Video: BMW M3 Evolution
The BMW M3 defines the luxury-sport sedan, and over the last three decades, it has set a standard that Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, and Cadillac have followed. But just how has the M3 changed over the years? Marc Norris from BWS Motorsports walks us through the evolution of the M3 and gives us a taste of what's to come. These cars were built for drivers, and the M3 came about when BMW needed a new concept for the then-coming 80s DTM Touring Car Championship. The first M3 was introduced in 1987, and came to dealerships a year later. It was a true production race car you could actually go out and purchase, even if it wasn't popular when it first came out. The next generation brought a car that was almost the same as the standard model, with the same engine, plastic headlights, and little-to-no options. Now, it's widely popular and easily modifiable, but back then, it was like the red-headed stepchild. Two more models were introduces in 2001 and 2007, each expanding on the previous incarnation, but what does the future hold for the M3? See the evolution of the BMW M3 and hear what you can expect from the possible successor to the M3 you've come to enjoy. Source: ElectricFederal via YouTube
