Video of the Day: 2012 Porsche 911 Teases before 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show Debut

By Joel Arellano | August 26, 2011
As previously posted, Porsche released images and details on the upcoming 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera, scheduled to debut at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show in November. Green seems to be the latest 911's mantra, with green meaning more fuel economy. The standard 3.4-liter gets nearly 29 mpg, a couple of extra ticks over the previous engine, while the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S jumps one additional mpg with its 3.8-liter engine. Yet both models deliver the same amount of power as last year's engines or, in the case of the Carrera S, even eke out a few extra ponies. Fuel economy, though, is the last thing on Porsche fans' minds. Properly equipped, the 2012 Porsche 911 blasts to 60 mph under 4.5 seconds with the Carrera S hitting the mark in 4.1 seconds, just shy of that 4.0 second mark. Those are the figures, plus the electronically limited numbers of 179 mph (911 Carrera) and 188 mph (Carrera S) that are beautifully illustrated in the video below.

Wow. They made it look like the 2012 Porsche can take your breathe away. It has improved mileage, but I agree with you - a car that fast is not really what you can call environment-friendly. Although if it's speed that you want, then you may be looking a a car of your dreams.
