Video of the Day: Jaguar Lets You Listen to the F-Type's Engine Rev

By Trevor Dorchies | June 15, 2012
As we continue to wait for the arrival of the all-new Jaguar F-Type, the British automaker has released this video teasing us of what it'll sound like when you step on the accelerator. The F-Type roadster isn't coming stateside until the middle of next year, but the sound its 3.0-liter V-6 supercharged engine doesn’t help with the anxiousness. The release of the F-Type is expected to vault Jaguar back into the sports game segment, and it has some of pretty tough competition. Jaguar is expecting its new sports car will take some sales away from the BMW M3, Mercedes-Benz SL, and the Porsche 911. Pricing is still unknown at the moment but we expect Jaguar to price the F-Type somewhere from $72,000 all the way up to $91,700. That price puts it higher than the Porsche Boxster and Cayman, but below the 911, giving it a chance to take sales from both. While the video below doesn't go into much detail about anything except from what the F-Type will sound like as it's pulling away, we do know one thing. That engine note is glorious. If Jaguar can capture that note and release it into every F-Type we expect its German rivals will have to start looking over their collective shoulder. We presumed earlier that Jag would drop a 3.0-liter V-6 supercharged engine into the F-Type and now this video has confirmed that notion. Check out the F-Type's engine in normal and an exploded view multiple times in the video below. We understand if you turn the volume up to hear the engine rev too. In fact, it's recommend. What do you think? Do you like it? Is the F-Type a sure-fire homerun for Jaguar? Tell us your thoughts in the comment section below.
