Video of the Day: Porsche 911 Carrera 4 "Red Line of Identity"

By Trevor Dorchies | January 04, 2013
Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to name another vehicle that handles like a Porsche 911. As Gordon Robertson, Porsche Chief Driving Instructor is quick to tell us, the all-new all-wheel drive model Porsche 911 Carrera 4 is faster, lighter, and more efficient than the one it's replacing. While the front-end gets is restyled, Robertson is head over heels for the new rear-end. As Robertson points out, a wider rear track and tires make the 911 Carrera 4 quite the looker. Add the rear red light strip, and it's almost impossible to turn away. In the latest installment of Video of the Day, we take a look at the "Red Line of Identity" mini-series that showcases the 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 as seen through the eyes of Robertson. The four part series, including a video that takes us behind the scenes, showcases the all-wheel drive capabilities, along with other traction control features by racing the Porsche Experience Center in Silverstone. These features can be seen in action firsthand in the series second video. In the third video, we see how these systems were developed and where each originated. The red rear light strip is also a focal point as it continues on with the latest 911 model. The fourth video showcases people's reactions to the 911 Carrera 4 after it leaves the track at Silverstone. Over the course of six days, Porsche wanted to simulate all four seasons and the weather each one brings. So to make this a reality, the German luxury automaker brought in leaves and manufactured its own rain and snow to show off the four-wheel drive capabilities. The behind the scenes video shows how this was all done, so we're going to shut up now. Check out all six videos of the "Red Line of Identity" mini-series below and tell us what you think of it in the comment section below. Source: YouTube
