Video of the Day: Porsche Offers Customers a Chance to Design Their Dream Car-The Downshift Episode 33
Some people spend their lives pining for a car designed to their exact specifications and will do anything to get it. Others just have the spare cash and want to ride around in comfort and style. Luckily for both, Porsche can accommodate every demand a customer will have down to the color of the stitching on the steering wheel. On today's installment of The Downshift, our in-office cohorts over at Motor Trend explore the Porsche Exclusive Center in Stuttgart, Germany to see just how much detail goes into customizing a Porsche. Sven Theis, a customer advisor at the Porsche Exclusive Center, walks you through the ways to customize a 911, Boxster, Panamera, Cayenne, or Cayman. Without ruining the latest episode for you, Porsche has little trouble meeting the customer's customized demands by offering a seemingly limitless number of options. If a Porsche model is to take part in the customization process, life starts on a computer screen and then moves to the paint shop. After that, interior colors and accents are decided upon and are then assembled at Porsche's Custom Tailoring Workshop. Before the customer knows it, their dream car is sitting in front of them and Porsche aims for a feeling of satisfaction felt by the new owner to come along with it. We don't want to ruin the latest episode of The Downshift for you, so check out the video in its entirety below.
