Video of the Day: Ram Trucks Features Superman in Latest Commercial

By Trevor Dorchies | June 07, 2013
Known to be more powerful than a locomotive, leap tall buildings in a single bound, and faster than a speeding bullet, there is little that Superman can't do. Those are all good attributes to hook your wagon on to, or in this case, Power Wagon, as Ram has partnered with the upcoming movie "Man of Steel," which is due out in theatres on June 14th. This partnership has yielded a commercial showcasing the similarities between the Ram 1500 and the Man of Steel himself in the upcoming movie.
This new 30 second spot intertwines clips from the movie, but also shows the 2013 Ram 1500 hustling around mountain roads. What you're supposed to take away from all this is that Ram truck owners work hard enough to be superheroes in their own right. The ad also shows Superman flying around and taking off into the stratosphere at supersonic speeds. A print ad, illustrated by DC comic artist Shane Davis, will also be launched in support of the commercial, and can be seen in the weekend edition of USA Today through the July 4th weekend.
Besides this print and digital ad, Ram has created a special edition, one-of-a-kind Man of Steel Power Wagon that features design cues inspired from the movie. This Man of Steel Power Wagon will make its official debut on June 10 in New York City at the world premiere of the movie. After that, it will be paraded around the country at events like the National Finals Rodeo and State Fair of Texas before going on the auction block. Ram hasn't announced when or where this special edition Power Wagon will be auctioned yet, but all proceeds will be donated to a charity to be named at a later date.
This special edition 2013 Ram 1500 is doused in a Dark Ceramic Gray exterior paint and features a high-gloss black roof. Anodized red grille accents make the Ram's nose pop and forged aluminum, 17-inch satin black off-road wheels give the Man of Steel Ram an even more robust look.  Superman logos are seen on the front grille and rear tailgate while a custom vehicle wrap covers the entire track. This vehicle wrap has a visible texture, the same one from Superman's suit, and highlights Superman's S-shield, as well. Inside, custom mesh inserts share a similar texture to that of Superman's suit once again. Superman's logo is also seen on the seats and console just in case you forgot what you were driving. Pewter leather seats, Anodized red paint trim on the doors, steering column, radio cluster, and seats all give off a Man of Steel vibe, too.
Man of Steel is set to open in theaters nationwide on June 14th, and there will be a bunch of vintage Chrysler Group vehicles spread throughout the movie. Chrysler Group provided these sacrificial lambs because, if the trailer is any indication, this movie has scenes that will make Michael Bay sweat.
