Video of the Day: The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Wants You to Forget Everything You Know About Driving
Like when the kids keep asking if we're there yet, it's getting to the point where we're about to turn this car around. If you don't know that the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette, soon to be in its seventh generation, it's making its debut in January at the 2013 North American International Auto Show. Over the past couple of months, we've been bombarded with spy shots, spy shots, and more spy shots. We've also seen what the front-end will look like and the convertible variant a few times. Needless to say, are we there yet? Corvette doesn't seem to think so as General Motors' flagship supercar has released yet another teaser video. This time though, you can only see the C7 Corvette pass by for a grand total of about three seconds. Even then, it's only the top half as a guard rail blocks most of the C7. Well played Corvette, we see what you did there. Again, in case you've been trapped under a pile of rocks, the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette will be making its official world debut on January 13, 2013 at the Detroit auto show. With the exception of the other teaser videos, spy shots, and engine specifications, Chevrolet has done a good job at keeping the C7 Corvette under tight wraps. We're still cloudy on some specifics pertaining to the interior but Chevrolet has already made the C7's engine specs known. The Corvette's base engine will now be known as the "LT1" which is code name for a 6.2-liter V-8 engine rated at 450 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque. One could argue that this engine looks similar to the LS3 mill but the LT1 is packed to the gills with modern technology in an effort to boost fuel economy. Chevrolet already estimates that the 2014 Corvette will achieve 26 mpg on the highway as well. We're still just over a month from seeing the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette in the sheet metal flesh but that's okay. Chevy has provided us with a multitude of avenues to dream about what the C7 will look like. Until mid-January, we're just going to have to make due with some spy shots and these teaser videos. Too bad there hasn't been much coverage on it yet though. Source: YouTube
