Volvo Cars Teams Up with Swedish House Mafia

Volvo has been teasing a big reveal with short YouTube videos, and we--among others--speculated that the Volvo crossover way in the background could've been the new XC90. We were wrong. What we though was going to be a big reveal of an all-new vehicle turned out to be a music video. Volvo and Swedish House Mafia have joined forces for the new XC60 campaign. Swedish House Mafia has created a new version of their song "Leave the World Behind" for this campaign, and the music video will premiere tonight at 8:30 pm CET. "We found a great connection in our joint Scandinavian roots and have built the project around this," said Per Carleo, Marketing Manager at Volvo Cars in a recent interview. The XC range of Volvo cars has always been getting out of the city and starting an adventure or going somewhere peaceful away from the hustle and bustle of big cities, and the challenge of adding this to the new XC60 campaign was to keep it relevant and credible. By collaborating with the musical trio, Volvo has done just that. As their popularity has increased over the years, Swedish House Mafia has also become the most successful Swedish act, making them a prime addition to the Volvo campaign. Unfortunately, the band has officially gone their separate ways as of March 24, 2013. "They have now decided to take the next step in their lives and leave that life behind, and it just felt like a very natural connection between our thinking and their plans. And the fact that their first world hit together has the title 'Leave the World Behind' was just too good to be true," commented Carleo. Source: Volvo
