Volvo Debuts New S60 and V60 Polestar
Set to debut in four different continents, the new Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar are based on the latest generation models and mark the beginning of an extended Polestar production model lineup. These vehicles have been in development for the past few years, picking up where the C30 and S60 Concept models left off. "Our motorsport cooperation with Polestar has been going on for almost two decades and it is rewarding to see how Polestar can use their experiences for motorsport to engineer such an exciting and competent car," said Derek Crabb, Motorsport Director at Volvo Car Group, in a statement. The new models have been thoroughly tested on the Autobahn, winding mountain roads, and test tracks ranging from southern Europe to northern Sweden. Both the S60 and V60 Polestar have received performance upgrades, including a new chassis design to increase rigidity with high-performance Ohlins shock absorbers and 20-inch Polestar wheels. The brakes have also been upgraded to include ventilated front discs and six-piston Brembo calipers. To increase aerodynamics, front splitters have been added to optimize airflow underneath both models, as well as new rear spoilers and diffusers to increase downforce. Both the S60 and V60 Polestar will be powered by a six-cylinder turbocharged T6 engine with a twin-scroll turbo and intercooler paired with a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, delivering 350 horsepower. "We are all very excited and proud over our launch of two new cars as yet another step toward a range of Polestar engineered Volvo cars available for people like us around the world. To do it together with Volvo, one of the world's leading car manufacturers, is greatly satisfying and we look forward to an exciting future," said Christian Dahl, CEO of Polestar. Expect to see the new Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar models hit dealerships in June 2014. Source: Volvo
