Behind the Wheel: 2014 Lexus IS
When given the opportunity to ride in a helicopter, DO IT. Ten years ago last month was the last time the author rode in a helicopter. That was in Baghdad for the start of the Iraq invasion. He enjoys this line of work better than that line of work. We're not sure what that has to do with the 2014 Lexus IS, except that helicopter was our mode of transportation to the track drive at Driveway Austin's Motorsports Academy. There, we tested the 2014 Lexus IS on a small purpose built racetrack against stiff German competitors. And the current generation IS. This is relevant to the story, we assure you. There's technology involved. And it's not everyday that one flies over Austin's skyline, or the new Circuit of the America's racetrack, or you know, that big concurrently happening music festival. So, what'd we think of the new sport sedan? Do we like it? Love it? Want it? Was it fun to drive fast? Is it racecar? How does it compare to the other cars? How was it on city streets?
