Supercar Sunday: 2014 SRT Viper Color Needs Name
The 2014 SRT Viper is a bonafide performance supercar, and its newest shade of blue needs a name. The Chrysler Group's Street and Racing Technology brand is launching "The SRT Viper Color Contest." Ralph Gilles, CEO of SRT, said the contest "gives our Viper enthusiasts an opportunity to be original, creative, and contribute to the exterior design of our flagship American supercar." The fifth-generation sports car is powered by an 8.4-liter V-10 engine that is capable of 640 hp. Despite SRT's best efforts however, the Viper has sold below expectations, and the automaker recently confirmed that it had reduced the amount of Vipers it was producing, due to poor sales and more supply than demand. Gilles said he expected sales to pick up in spring, as warm-weather months generally bode well for performance cars like the 2014 SRT Viper. The Viper already has a name for its other, darker shade of blue, GTS-R Blue. Other colors include Adrenaline Red, Billet Silver Metallic Clear Coat, Gunmetal Pearl, Race Yellow Clear Coat, Black Venom, and Viper White Clear Coat.
