Overview

The 1996 Nissan 200SX comes with two engine and transmission choices and three trim levels. All models come standard with the five-speed manual transmission with the option of the four-speed automatic. One outstanding feature is the fuel economy.

What's New

The 1996 Nissan 200SX now has standard body-colored outside mirrors and door handles on the SE and SE-R.

Exterior

The 1996 Nissan 200SX have standard dual power remote windows on all models, while the base model comes with steel wheels and the option of chrome wheels. The SE and SE-R come with standard alloy wheels, and both the base model and SE come with the option of a wing spoiler, while a lip spoiler is standard on the SE-R. Body-colored body-side moldings are standard for the SE and SE-R, and a first row power glass sunroof is optional.

Interior

The 1996 Nissan 200SX come with cloth upholstery, two-way driver and front passenger seats, tilt steering wheel, passenger vanity mirror, and a full floor console across all models. Bucket front seats are standard for the base model, and sport front seats are featured in the SE and SE-R. It has rear bench seat for the base model, and a 60-40 split-bench seat in the SE and SE-R.

The 1996 Nissan 200SX gets an optional AM/FM/Cassette audio system and optional manual air-conditioning for the base model, while these features are standard for the SE and SE-R along with power front windows. The SE-R also has leather-trimmed steering wheel as standard.

Performance & Handling

The 1996 Nissan 200SX comes equipped with a rear anti-roll bar standard, to help increase stability when cornering and when travelling on uneven terrain. A front anti-roll bar is standard on the SE and SE-R but not available on the base model. A locking/limited slip differential is standard on the SE-R, but not available on the other models.

Safety

The 1996 Nissan 200SX base model and SE both come with front disc and rear drum brakes, while the SE-R comes with four-wheel disc brakes. Four-wheel disc brakes are an option for the SE. Anti-lock brakes are only available as an option on the SE and SE-R. Standard safety features include driver and passenger front impact airbags, halogen headlights, a rear window defogger, variable intermittent windshield wipers, and a power remote fuel door and trunk release. Power door locks and front fog lights are additional safety features that come standard on the SE and SE-R. The SE-R also comes with remote keyless entry and a content theft-deterrent alarm system.
