The 1996 Nissan 300ZX marks the last model in Nissan’s Z line. The base model serves as the only convertible, while the other models classify as coupes. All models include the standard five-speed manual transmission, with the option of the four-speed automatic transmission. One outstanding feature of this car is the content theft-deterrent alarm system.

Nissan makes no changes for this model year, the last model year for Nissan’s Z line.
All models of the 1996 Nissan 300 ZX come with alloy wheels, a rigid cargo cover, heated side mirrors, dual power remote windows, and a power antenna. A sunroof comes standard on the T-bar; it remains optional on the base coupe. The Turbo T-bar also includes a standard wing spoiler.
The 300ZX comes with automatic air-conditioning, an AM/FM/cassette audio system, and cloth upholstery standard. Other standard features include a full floor console, bucket front seats, leather steering wheel trim, and power front windows. Front map lights, a cargo light, and a passenger vanity mirror add to the list of features in the 1996 Nissan 300ZX.
The base convertible, base coupe, and T-bar have two-way front passenger seats. The base convertible and base coupe also feature two-way driver seats, while the driver’s seat gets power in the T-bar and Turbo T-bar. Brand speakers come standard on all models except the base convertible.
Leather upholstery marks an available option for the base coupe and Turbo T-bar. The rear seats in the T-bar split 60/40.
Performance & Handling
The three-liter V-6 engine on the 1996 Nissan 300ZX produces 222 horsepower and 198 lb-ft of torque. A locking, limited-slip differential comes standard on all models. Front and rear anti-roll bars also come standard to increase stability when cornering or when driving on uneven terrain.
The 1996 Nissan 300 ZX comes with anti-lock brakes as a standard feature. Standard airbags vary. The base, a convertible, has driver and passenger front-impact airbags. The other models all offer driver’s-side front-impact airbags only.
Other standard safety features for all models include: illuminated entry, front fog lights, remote keyless entry, remote trunk and fuel door release, and a content theft-deterrent alarm system. Variable intermittent windshield wipers, a rear window wiper, and a rear defroster also improve safety by enhancing visibility.
