I found the 2009 Nissan Rogue to be a kind of mini Murano. Though based on the less sexy Sentra, the Rogue manages to be a trendier, fun to drive offspring.
In my experience, the Rogue stands out thanks to its carlike manners and well-crafted interior. The competent four-cylinder engine produces enough oomph to keep up with the other crossover SUV's. It is still a stylish, viable alternative to other top small crossovers. Yes the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 have more cargo room and creature comforts but this car is a good choice for those who need less utility and are more prone to city commuting. You will find it comes in a variety of Body Styles and Trim Levels sure to appeal to even the most discerning car buyer.
On the inside, the Nissan Rogue is comfortable, intuitive and well-built with top-notch materials. The cabin is thoughtfully laid out with controls that are well placed and effortlessly operated. I found that it had a substantial center console bin, a massive glovebox and a clever under-floor organizer.
Seating comfort, both front and rear, is as good as it gets. I found that the fact that the rear seats did not recline or slide forward or backward like that of the competition, did not detract from its overall comfort.
From my experience, much of the appeal of small crossovers stems from their car-like driving manners, and this SUV delivers. In driving, I found that road bumps and imperfections were gobbled up with ease thanks to the suspension's long travel. It is stable at highway speeds, and short stopping distances added to the confidence I felt when driving.
The main detraction from an otherwise successful execution is the CVT transmission. The consequent lazy throttle response, yo-yo-like engine revving and moaning engine note gives drivers the impression that they're in a much slower vehicle.

If you are looking for an all around car, get the Rogue. You get the storage of an SUV with the handling and quickness of a small car. Engine is responsive, steering and brakes are sharp and the ride is as smooth even in crazy snow storms.
