A good value with just enough extras.

Reviewed by Automotive on

Overview

The 2008 Nissan Versa is a well-rounded sedan or hatchback. Exterior and interior features are endless, and the performance and handling is smooth. Safety is average; meanwhile, fuel economy is on the high end.

The Range

Body Styles: sedan, hatchback
Engines: 1.8-liter four-cylinder
Transmissions: four-speed automatic, six-speed manual, CVT automatic
Models: S, SL

What's New

The 2008 Nissan Versa receives minor revisions this year. The base S models receive cruise control as a new option, while both models get the optional sport package, which includes front and rear spoilers, lower body side sill extensions, and fog lights.

Exterior

The 2008 Nissan Versa comes in seven different colors to choose from. On the outside, it features multi-reflector halogen headlamps for a brighter beam and variable intermittent windshield wipers. The bumpers, exterior mirrors, and door handles all reflect the body color of the vehicle. The body also features a chrome deck lid finish. The two options for body styles on the Nissan Versa are a four-door sedan or a five-door hatchback with two models each. The base model S comes with 15-inch steel wheels and the SL model comes with 15-inch machined alloy wheels. All models come equipped with all-season tires.

Interior

The 2008 Nissan Versa has many standard interior features. The front seats are reclining bucket seats, both of which feature adjustable headrests. The driver and passenger seats are both manually adjustable four-ways. The trim on the seats is suede-tricot cloth. The instrument panel display features a tachometer and tire pressure monitoring system. The audio system is an AM/FM/CD player stereo system with four speakers and a 120-watt amplifier. Both the trunk and the fuel lid have a power release. The air-conditioning has an in-cabin micro filter, which cleans the air in the cabin to help the passengers and driver breathe more easily. The front and rear windows have defrosters.

Interior options on the S models include cruise control and a power package consisting of power door locks and windows, remote keyless entry, armrest pads for the door, map pockets on the rear doors, and a compartment light for the glove box. The SL models have the optional packages standard and also come with a 180-watt stereo with a six CD/MP3 changer/player. The seat fabric is premium woven, and the driver’s seat is more adjustable. Center armrests can be found in both the front and rear for the SL models. XM Satellite Radio is another audio option for the SL models. The package options for the SL models include a sunroof package featuring a power sunroof and illuminated visor vanity mirrors; a convenience package featuring an intelligent key system, Bluetooth phone connectivity and audio switches on a leather-wrapped steering wheel; and a sport package featuring fog lights, rear spoiler, side sill extensions, front and rear fascias for the hatchback, and a front chin spoiler on the sedans. Finally, the audio package for the hatchback provides a 100-watt Rockford-Fosgate stereo with premium speakers and subwoofer.
