Pros
Cons
As a compact SUV, the Pontiac Torrent offers a luxurious interior and respectable power. Like other compact SUVs, the gas mileage is not something that makes it better than its competitors. However, the Torrent saves itself from being ignored by its interiors. It comes with comfortable seats with spacious leg and headroom. An added bonus is that the rear seats are able to adjust forward and backward and recline. It also features all-wheel drive. I have ridden inside it multiple times because a friend of mine is an owner of one. As a passenger, I have enjoyed riding inside with its standard sound system and comfortable front passenger seat. The driver, however, is less enthusiastic with the performance. I have heard that the steering is "sluggish" and unresponsive. My friend dislikes driving her car when we are driving on roads with many curves and turns. In addition, she does not like atrocious mileage. Compared to other compact SUVs, the Torrent really falls behind in fuel economy. Would I buy this vehicle? Honestly, I would stay away from it. There are too many cons that would make me look elsewhere for a compact SUV. The upside is that the interior is very spacious. That is about it. The low mileage, comparatively low power, and unresponsive steering definitely veers me away onto other options in the same category.
