The 2008 Porsche 911 has 14 different models to choose from, adding more choice than ever. There are no real new features this year except for the optional racing seats. The exterior features many options as does the interior. The power on the different models is unbelievable. While the safety features are standard, the fuel economy is poor. This is a perfect sports car, but not great for everyday driving.

New features are far and few between this year. The 2008 Porsche 911 gets new, optional carbon-fiber racing seats. The Targa models get a more effective sunshade. For 2008, Porsche adds the GT2 and Turbo Cabriolet to the 911 line of vehicles.
The 2008 Porsche 911 comes in 17 colors in many shades to choose from, making customization almost limitless. The exterior features include halogen headlights, front and rear fog lights, full underbody paneling, front air dam with black intakes, automatic extending rear spoiler, power sunroof and heated mirrors with a memory system, rain sensing front wipers with heated washer nozzles, and black brake calipers. The aluminum wheel sizes are 18 inches in the front and 18 inches in the rear. They include summer high performance front and rear tires. The exhaust system is stainless steel, and the twin tail pipes are made from brushed steel.
The 2008 Porsche 911 features 2+2 seating with split-folding rear seats. The front bucket seats are powered and feature an adjustable lumbar support. The leather-wrapped, three-spoke, multi-function steering wheel is tilt and telescopic adjustable. There is an on-board computer with continuous mileage indication, time, speed and pressure gauge, and outside temperature. The windows are powered with an auto up and down feature on both as well as an anti-pinch feature. There is cruise control, an anti-theft and alarm system, HomeLink system, and keyless entry. The audio system is an AM/FM/CD player stereo with MP3 capabilities. The sound system blares through a 235-watt nine-speaker sound system. There is an automatic climate control system with an active carbon filter and rear window defogger. The visor vanity mirrors are illuminated. There is an auxiliary power outlet and dual front cup holders.
Performance & Handling
The 2008 Porsche 911 comes with either a 3.6-liter, six-cylinder engine or a 3.8-liter, six-cylinder engine. The Coupe Carrera, Cabriolet Carrera, Cabriolet and Coupe Carrera 4, and the Targa 4 come with 325 horsepower, which produces 273 lb-ft of torque. The Cabriolet Carrera 4S, S, Coupe Carrera 4S, S and the Targa 4S all come with 355 horsepower, which produces 295 lb-ft of torque. The Coupe GT3 and GT3 RS come with 415 horsepower, which produces 300 lb-ft of torque. The Cabriolet Turbo and the Coupe Turbo come with 480 horsepower, which produces 460 lb-ft of torque. Finally, the Coupe GT2 comes with 530 horsepower, which produces 505 lb-ft of torque.
The Porsche 911 comes with traction control, automatic brake differential, engine drag torque control, front and rear stabilizer bars, power rack & pinion steering, and the Porsche Stability Management system. The vehicle is rear wheel drive with all-wheel drive options for the Turbo, Carrera and Targa models. All models can go from zero to 60 mph in fewer than five seconds, with the GT2 being able to achieve this in under four seconds. This is a powerful and meaty vehicle.
The 2008 Porsche 911 comes with anti-lock brakes, and driver and front passenger front, side, and curtain airbags. The front passenger airbags have an on and off switch. Traction control and the Porsche Stability Management system are included as well as the Porsche side impact protection system. The passenger side has child seat anchorage prep. The GT3 does not have the stability control. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration did not provide safety test results for this vehicle.
