The 2008 Porsche Boxster is a powerful yet expensive vehicle choice. While it doesn’t have many models or options, it still has enough to make this a highly-customizable vehicle. There aren’t many new features this year but the exterior and interior features make up for that with a luxury interior feel and a snazzy exterior look. Performance is great, and safety is average on the Boxster. Fuel economy is as expected in a sportier vehicle as sacrifices have to be made for power and speed. The 2008 Porsche Boxster has few new features this year. New folding lightweight fiberglass sport-seats made with carbon fiber-reinforced plastic are an option this year. There are two new colors to choose from this year: Macadamia Metallic option for the exterior color, and Carrera Red option as an upholstery color.
The 2008 Porsche Boxster has 17 different colors, which are mostly in darker shades but with a few lighter shades as well. This helps in making the customization on this vehicle nearly endless. The exterior features on this vehicle include a power convertible top, integrated fixed supplemental safety bars with a soft-touch covering, a speed-dependent rear spoiler, front and rear fog lamps, and tinted glass. The power mirrors and rear window are both heated. The front window has an intermittent wiper with heated washer nozzles. The 17-inch aluminum wheels include summer performance front and rear tires. The Porsche Boxster has a central oval exhaust pipe and black painted calipers.
The 2008 Porsche Boxster includes many interior features. The power reclining bucket seats are standard in all models. Some of the other interior features include a leather-wrapped three-spoke multi-function telescoping steering wheel with a full color Porsche crest, a trip computer, tachometer, trip odometer, and clock. The windows are powered and feature the one-touch up and down feature as well as an anti-jamming feature. The central locking system has a remote control, and the trunk can also be unlocked remotely. A HomeLink universal transmitter comes with the Boxster. Cruise control and an immobilizer system with an alarm system are both included as well. The Porsche Boxster comes with an AM/FM/CD player stereo system with optional Bose digital audio upgrade. The convenience features include an auxiliary power outlet, dash-mounted pop-out cup holders, dual illuminated visor vanity mirrors, and a center storage compartment. Performance & Handling
The 2008 Porsche Boxster comes with a 2.7-liter six-cylinder engine for the base unit and for the limited edition. This has 245 horsepower, which provides 201 lb-ft of torque. The RS 60 Spyder and the Design Edition 2 S both have a 3.4 liter six-cylinder engine, which is rated at 303 horsepower which provides 251 lb-ft of torque. The Roadster S and the Limited Edition S models both are rated at 295 horsepower, which provides 251 lb-ft of torque as well. The Porsche Boxster is a rear-drive vehicle with three transmission options. There is a five-speed manual, six-speed manual and five-speed Tiptronic transmission to choose from. Traction control and active brake differential is included on the vehicle as well. The suspension is an independent four-wheel MacPherson strut suspension with aluminum alloy control arms and stabilizer bars for the front and back. The Porsche Stability Management system is included on the Boxster as well as Motronic ME 7.8 engine management software.
The 2008 Porsche Boxster comes with four-wheel anti-lock braking system, driver and passenger front airbags, and door mounted side-impact airbags. The front passenger airbag system has an on and off switch. The windshield on the Porsche Boxster has boron steel tubing around it for added safety. The passenger compartment is reinforced. The Porsche Boxster features a crumple-zone body structure and integrated fixed supplemental safety bars. The Porsche Boxster did not receive crash test ratings this year.
