The Subaru Legacy hit the market in 1990, featuring five-door wagons and four-door sedans with optional all-wheel drive. For 2005, the Subaru Legacy’s wheelbase has been lengthened by a few inches to further improve the handling and stability, as well as increasing passenger space. Another big addition for 2005 is the improved turbo engine that comes from detuning the WRX. The Legacy 2.5i and 2.5i Limited trims have 16-inch alloy wheels, all-season tires, and an inside-mounted spare. The 2.5 GT and 2.5 GT Limited have 17-inch wheels, and the 2.5 GT Limited features a chrome grille. Several exterior body paint colors are available to add your personal touch to the Legacy, as well as numerous optional add-ons.
The 2.5i trim includes cloth bucket seats, a height-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, front console storage, and cup holders. The 2.5i Limited has leather bucket seats and an eight-way, power-adjustable driver’s seat with heat. The 2.5i and 2.5i Limited have pass-through rear armrests, all power features, cruise control, climate control, an external temperature display, a tachometer, a clock, a trip computer, an AM/FM radio with CD player and six speakers, and remote trunk release capabilities. The 2.5 GT Limited has leather, eight-way height-adjustable driver’s seats, with heat and lumbar support. Optional features include MX Series grilles, custom spoilers, a sunroof, and Lambo vertical doors.
Performance & Handling
The Legacy’s good suspension offers a comfortable ride. The all-wheel-drive feature ensures that it is highly capable in all weather. The 250 hp versions have plenty of power, but are soft when maneuvering tight corners. When pushed, the tires give in and the vehicle tends to roll.
The 2005 Subaru Legacy includes four-door sedans and wagons with back hatches and all-wheel drive. The 2.5i and 2.5i Limited have 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engines with a five-speed manual or automatic transmission, 168 horsepower (hp), and 166 ft-lb of torque. The 2.5i and 2.5i Limited features front and rear disc brakes with electronic brake force distribution. This vehicle has front and rear head airbags and front side-mounted bags, as well as airbag occupant-sensing deactivation for passengers, child safety locks on the rear door, an emergency interior trunk release, and a remote anti-theft alarm.
