2010 Suzuki Kizashi Review

Economical sport sedan over-delivers its first year

Reviewed by Automotive on

In a Nutshell
A brand-new model from the ground up, the 2010 Suzuki Kizashi is a four-door midsize sport sedan offered in four trim levels: S, SE, STS, and SLS. Propelled by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder, naturally aspirated engine, the Suzuki Kizashi can be equipped with either front- or all-wheel drive. Transmission options include a six-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission (CVT), the latter of which is better for sport driving.

With spectacular dynamics, a plethora of features, and good value, the Suzuki Kizashi is a great choice if you are on a budget. The base Kizashi features dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless ignition/entry, and a multifunction steering wheel. Higher trims offer auto-dimming rearview mirror, Bluetooth, leather steering wheel, and a power driver's seat. Boasting perfect safety rating scores, the Kizashi is also fuel efficient with EPA ratings in the 23 mpg city / 30 mpg highway range.

New for 2010

The 2010 Kizashi is an all-new model and Suzuki's first serious midsize sedan, which is also a low-cost alternative to its competitors.

Essentials

Engine: 2.4-liter I-4
Transmissions: 6-speed manual, CVT
Body Style: 4-door sedan
Trims: S Sedan, SE Sedan, GTS Sedan, SLS Sedan

On the Outside

With a low roofline, short tail, and 18-inch wheels, the Suzuki Kizashi looks sporty and can be driven hard.

From the Inside

While relatively short, the Suzuki Kizashi provides ample overall interior space, with plenty of room for six-footers in the front or rear seats. Standard are high quality cabin materials and a tilting/telescoping steering wheel.

Driving Performance

With a firm yet comfortable ride, the Suzuki Kizashi has a bit of body roll but minimal under-steer, especially for a front-wheel-drive sedan. The 185-horsepower four-cylinder engine with the manual transmission makes the Kizashi feel light, nimble, and willing, just like a mini sport sedan.

Safety Equipment

Standard safety equipment on the Suzuki Kizashi includes front driver and passenger front airbags, front and rear side airbags, and front and rear side curtain airbags. Also standard are traction and stability control.

Gas Mileage

S: 21mpg city/31mpg highway (manual); 23 mpg city/31 mpg highway (automatic)
