The 2009 Suzuki SX4 Sport is the high-end version of an economy sedan. That may sound like a bit of a paradox; in reality, it just means that the 2009 Suzuki SX4 Sport packs a lot into a small space for a reasonable price. The 2006 Suzuki SX4 Sport offers many standard features and a wealth of options that are not only unavailable for the lower models, but also somewhat uncommon for this car class. All this makes the 2009 Suzuki SX4 Sport an interesting compact sedan option.
Body Styles: compact sedan

The SX4 line expands in 2009, offering lower-priced versions of this sedan. A new LE trim is added as an option and now comes equipped with a split and folding rear seat.
The 2009 Suzuki SX4 Sport is a front-wheel drive four-door sedan. The Sport model is the top of the line, and therefore contains many standard features as well as an array of options packages unavailable on the lower-end models. Standard features on the 2009 Suzuki SX4 Sport include 17-inch alloy wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a lower body, and a sport suspension. The LE can be fitted with the Popular package that adds keyless remote and a sport suspension. The Sport with Technology package adds foglamps, while the Sport with Touring package has everything from the other packages plus heated side view mirrors.
The 2009 Suzuki SX4 Sport sedan has a few full power accessories, a tilt steering wheel, and a 60/40-split folding rear seat. The LE model adds air-conditioning and a four-speaker sound system with a CD player. The LE with the Popular package adds keyless remote, cruise control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, and a navigation system. The interior-based Technology package adds an upgraded navigation system that includes Bluetooth connectivity, real-time traffic reporting, weather reporting, and local gas prices. The Touring package features everything from the other packages plus automatic climate control, keyless ignition and entry, plus an upgraded audio system with nine speakers.
The 2009 Suzuki SX4 Sport interior uses an uncluttered design and has most of what the rivals offer, although the lack of an audio output jack is an oversight. There is a surprising amount of space, even for taller drivers and passengers. The driver’s seat is up higher than is typical for cars in this class, a design that will appeal to fans of sport utility vehicles, but drivers that like to sit in a low, sporty position may not approve.
Performance & Handling
Every 2009 Suzuki SX4 Sport is equipped with a two-liter, four-cylinder engine producing 143 horsepower and 136 lb-ft of torque. This engine mates to a standard five-speed manual transmission or an optional four-speed automatic. The Suzuki SX4 takes a whopping 11 seconds to go from zero to 60.
The handling is solid for a car in this class. And while it can’t quite compete with similar cars from Honda and Mazda, its ride is surprisingly refined and smooth—a nice bonus for most budget-conscious drivers.
The 2009 Suzuki SX4 Sport receives above average scores on various, government crash safety tests. All 2009 SX4 Sport models have anti-lock disc brakes, front-seat side airbags, and head-protecting side curtain airbags for all outboard passengers.
