After a mid-season refresh, the 2007 Toyota Camry Solara gets a makeover to both the front and rear of the car. LED taillights are now standard; Xenon HID headlights are optional. The interior is spruced up with a CD player that can play MP3 files.
The Camry Solara's redesigned front fascia is similar to Lexus’ ES 350 with smaller foglights and a taller air dam. A spoiler graces the rear of the vehicle. The Solara has a 107.1-inch wheelbase and is 192.5 inches long. The Sport model includes a body kit to aid in aerodynamics. Overall, the Solara is an attractive sporty vehicle.
The interior of the 2007 Toyota Camry Solara is impressive with the best fit and finish in its class. It offers ample rear seat legroom and an attractive arrangement of instruments and controls. The interior trim and upholstery, which are distinct in each trim level, are top-notch. Up to five can sit in the coupe; the convertible features seating for four. Trunk space is 13.8 cubic feet in the coupe, and 12 cubic feet in the convertible. With the convertible’s top up, two inches of headroom is gained when compared with the coupe. The convertible features a magnetic front seatbelt guide to make getting into the back seat an easier task. The top can be raised or lowered in just 10 seconds. When lowered, it stores neatly under a tonneau cover that matches the interior color.
Performance & Handling
The Camry Solara SE and Sport are equipped with a 2.4-liter, 155 hp, four-cylinder engine and a five-speed manual transmission, while a five-speed automatic transmission is optional. The SLE trim level offers the 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine combined with a five-speed automatic transmission. All three trim levels also have a model that consists of a 3.3-liter, 210 hp, V-6 engine and a five-speed shiftable automatic transmission that has a front-drive drivetrain. Camry Solara convertibles receive the 3.3-liter, V-6 engine and five-speed automatic transmission. Performance in the 2007 Toyota Camry Solara is good, no matter what engine/transmission configuration you have. The suspension offers a controlled ride while not affecting comfort. The Sport model’s stiffer sport-tuned suspension enables the car to take turns like a champ without diminishing the civilized ride quality. The V-6 delivers ample power, but driving enthusiasts will have to be content with the five-speed shiftable automatic to feel like they’re putting the Solara through its paces as they dream about a manual transmission.
Standard safety equipment on the 2007 Toyota Camry Solara includes four-wheel ABS, tire pressure monitoring, and front and side-impact airbags. Full-length side curtain airbags are standard on the coupe. Government crash tests gave the Camry Solara five stars out of five in all testing.
